Rocksolid Android Wear 2.0 smartwatch with great feature set – my daily driver for the next coming months Ticwatch is being made by Mobvoi, a chinese manufacturer backed by Google. I recently left the apply OS environment and bought a Pixel 2. That also meant selling my beloved Apple Watch Series 2 and finding a replacement for it.After a lot of research I decided to go with the Ticwatch E. Mobvoi previously had created the Ticwatch 2 which was crowdfunded through Kickstarter and received great reviews. It featured a unique touchbar on the right side of the watch that allowed users to effortlessly scroll through content. Unfortunately, that bar didn’t make it into the Ticwatch E but instead Mobvoi listened to the userfeedback and switched their previously proprietary operating system over to Google’s Android Wear 2.0. This was a great decision, imho, as it allows us users to now install apps from the appstore (like 2 factor authentication apps, for instance). The Ticwatch E comes with a 1.2Ghz dual core processor from…

Good starter smart watch for the price I have had this watch for about a week and really enjoy it. Here are the highlights.Battery life – be sure to cycle the watch from 100% to totally dead (watch shuts down) 3 times. When I use it to check and answer messages and check the time 4-5 times an hour, I had 55% power left after 18 hours. Used it for sleep monitoring overnight and woke up to 25% battery left. When I used it with watch face always on, google fitness workout monitoring for 1.5 hours, checking and answering messages, changing watch faces every hour and using a few phone apps, I had 25% battery left after 18 hours. I used it for sleep monitoring that night and needed to charge first thing in the morning. I am happy with the battery life on this watch.Apps – very happy! I use my watch as a step counter, timepiece, calendar event tracking and messages on email and text messages. It has really performed well for these functions. The step counter is pretty accurate compared to my Fitbit. Using…

Smart watch made better with some tinkering Honestly, this is my first smartwatch. A.) I bought the watch since it’s relatively cheap when comparing it to other smartwatches and B.) I also went with this model since I was looking for a decent fitness tracker. My reasoning for making the purchase was to see which camp I fall under. Am I someone that wants a basic fitness tracker or do I want something that has the functionality of a smartphone on my wrist? After having the watch for a couple of weeks, I can see there’s a lot of promise, but there are a few problems I’ve found with the Ticwatch S.1st problem I noticed is the battery life. Battery life is short enough if the screen is set to “always on,” but even with it switched in the other mode where the screen only comes on when you lift your wrist isn’t enough to really justify the battery life. I’ve heard of some people getting over 24 hours on one charge, but the average for me has been closer to 14- 16 hours. Obviously, the battery life…
